Cleanup is under way at a partially constructed condominium project that had become run down and overgrown with weeds after it was abandoned in December by the developer, Sand Dollar Development Inc. Neighbors near the 30-acre site at Allen and Walnut avenues had complained to the San Dimas City Council that the deteriorating site had become a haven for vandals and drug abusers and was an eyesore.

City Manager Robert Poff said that the fence surrounding the project had been repaired and weeds had been removed after the project was placed in receivership late last month. At the request of Anchor Savings Inc., which holds the mortgage on the property, Sidney Landis was named by the Los Angeles Superior Court as receiver. Anchor is seeking a developer to finish the 249-unit project.
