Police say they are investigating allegations of child abuse involving seven boys at the Fred C. Nelles School, a California Youth Authority correctional facility.

The allegations were made Friday by officials at the Nelles School and involve a male staff member, said Whittier Police Officer Grant Reader. Reader said that when the investigation is completed, results will be submitted to the district attorney for possible prosecution.

The suspect was a night group supervisor who was responsible for overseeing dormitories, said Nelles Supt. Greg Zermeno. School officials began investigating the supervisor a week and a half ago, and the suspect resigned before the investigation was completed, Zermeno said. No other employees are under investigation, Zermeno said.

The school houses 600 boys ages 15 to 18. The youths who were allegedly abused are juveniles, Zermeno said.
