Reassuring Book for Mexico Tourists Shaken by Quake

At least one popular tourist guidebook on Mexico will need some rewriting after last week’s earthquake disaster.

“Mexico City was built in an area of frequent earthquakes. But don’t be frightened,” say the authors of “Mexico,” one of the “Insight Guides” series published by Apa Productions Ltd. of Hong Kong.

“The temblors of modern times have been mild and only lend spice to the excitement of being there,” the guidebook continues. “Only a few buildings have been damaged; modern Mexican architects are famous for their engineering skills.

“Mexicans will tell you proudly that the 42-story Latin American Tower sways gracefully in a quake.

“But, not to worry.”
