A computer programmer found guilty of trying to sabotage his former employer’s computer system was placed on probation for four years and ordered to donate 1,000 hours to community service. Dennis Lee Williams, 33, of Playa del Rey was convicted in July of planting a “logic bomb” in the computer system of Collins Food International Inc., a Los Angeles-based corporation that owns and operates more than 200 Sizzler steakhouse and Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises. Although Williams could have faced up to three years in state prison, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kathleen Parker ruled that prison was not appropriate in Williams’ case. The “logic bomb” program, which could have destroyed computer data, was never activated.
