Gunman Takes $9,000: A lone gunman escaped with $9,000 in cash after robbing a restaurant early Sunday and herding several employees into a food storage area, Newport Beach police said. Police said no shots were fired and that no one was injured. The robber entered Coco’s restaurant, 4647 MacArthur Blvd., about 1:35 a.m., police said. He brandished a blue-steel automatic handgun, officers said. After ordering the employees into a storage area, the man fled.
