Oakland’s Knowland Park Zoo may be forced to close unless the city provides $350,000 by Nov. 20, according to zoo officials. Zoo manager Joel Parot said that the facility has been operating at a loss for three years and has spent its reserve funds. He said $150,000 is needed for operational costs and the rest of the money is needed to build bigger and better enclosures for the animals.
