U.S., Japan to Hold Naval War Exercises

TOKYO —
Japan and the United States will begin two-week naval war games off Japan on Saturday, involving half the Japanese naval strength and key ships from the U.S. 7th Fleet, spokesmen for the two countries said Thursday.
About 110 ships and 130 aircraft of the Japanese navy and several dozen aircraft from the Japanese air force will take part, along with 15 U.S. ships, including the aircraft carrier Midway.
