Train Hits Bus in India; 23 Killed, 54 Injured

NEW DELHI —
A train slammed into a bus at a railroad crossing in the northeastern state of Assam on Sunday, killing 23 people and injuring 54 others, the Press Trust of India reported.
The accident occurred on the outskirts of the Assam state capital of Guwahati, about 900 miles east of New Delhi, the domestic news agency said, quoting official reports.
The gate of the railroad crossing was open when the accident occurred, the news agency said.
