Elixir Illegally Touted as Cure-All, Suit Alleges

“Body Toddy,” an elixir manufactured by Tulsa-based Rockland International, has been illegally touted as a cure for diseases ranging from acne and sunburn to cancer and heart disease, according to a consumer protection suit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court by the state attorney general’s office.

The suit by Deputy Atty. Gen. Jerry Smilowitz seeks at least $500,000 in civil penalties and injunctions banning false or misleading advertising and use of an “endless chain” marketing scheme in which people earn money for recruiting salesmen, rather than selling goods or services.

Rockland officials could not be reached for comment.
