Yaap to Join Assn. of Community Colleges
Sharon S. Yaap, director of public information for Southwestern College, has been named to an executive position with the California Assn. of Community Colleges (CACC) in Sacramento.
As associate executive director for programs and services, Yaap will hold the second highest position in the association, which represents community college trustees, administrators, faculty members and students.
The first woman on the CACC’s executive staff in its 56-year history, Yaap will coordinate community college research and publications and work on student retention studies.
Yaap received a journalism degree from San Diego State University and a doctorate from United States International University.
She is a former Southwestern journalism instructor and was managing editor of the Lemon Grove Review and the Spring Valley Bulletin.
