USIU Hockey Loses to Minnesota Duluth

Skeeter Moore had three goals and three assists to lead the University of Minnesota Duluth to a 12-4 win over visiting United States International on Friday night in the opening hockey match for both teams.

The Gulls, under new coach Brad Buetow, scored first on a power-play goal by Darrin Clarkin 4:46 into the match. The Bulldogs, who finished third in the nation last season, answered with the next four goals and led, 6-2, after one period.

Sean Toomey and Brett Hull, son of former NHL great Bobby Hull, added two goals apiece for Minnesota.
