Iraq Says Its Planes Hit ‘Large Naval Target’
From Reuters
BAGHDAD, Iraq —
The Iraqi military command said its warplanes hit a “large naval target” in the Persian Gulf on Sunday, the second such attack in less than 24 hours.
A military spokesman said the naval target--a term normally applied by Iraqi spokesmen to oil tankers or large merchant ships--was “accurately and effectively hit.”
There was no immediate confirmation of the Iraqi report from independent shipping sources in the gulf.
