Council Will Review Its Code of Ethics
At the request of Deputy Mayor Bill Mitchell, a San Diego City Council committee will hold a workshop Nov. 25 to consider revisions in a code of ethics for council members that was adopted in 1968.
Mitchell asked for the study because the 17-year-old code doesn’t address the issues of attendance at meetings and use of city-issued credit cards. The council’s Rules Committee approved the workshop Monday.
A new code of ethics proposed by Mitchell, who is campaigning for reelection and has asked that campaign tactics be included in any code revisions, will be forwarded to the city attorney’s office for review before the workshop.
