Share

Authorities have released a composite drawing of the burglar they believe fatally shot a woman Wednesday afternoon when she and her husband returned to their Villa Park home on Adams Ranch Road.

The victim, Helen Schwartz, 53, died at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana at 4:20 p.m., about three hours after she and her husband, Marvin, returned home to interrupt what Orange County sheriff’s deputies believe was an attempted burglary.

Authorities searched the neighborhood, a dry river bed and a nearby rock quarry late Wednesday and again Thursday but failed to come up with any sign of the gunman.

The killer is described as a male Latino in his late 20s wearing a black baseball cap, a black T-shirt with “AC/DC” and a lightning bolt on it and white tennis shoes. The gunman is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds, with black hair, a black mustache and a “scroungy” beard, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Dick Olson.
