United Auto Workers of Canada members overwhelmingly approved a new contract with Chrysler Corp.’s Canadian subsidiary today, clearing the way for 10,000 workers to end a six-day strike and return to work, the union announced.

Union spokesman George Ehring said 97.2% of the workers voting at local meetings endorsed the pact. The agreement could light a fire under talks to end a six-day walkout by 70,000 employees in the United States, company and union officials said.
