Woman Pleads Guilty on Charge of Pimping

A Granada Hills woman accused of running an out-call prostitution ring from her home by placing escort service ads in telephone directories pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of pimping.

The woman, Lisa M. Andrade, 28, entered the plea before San Fernando Municipal Judge Paul I. Metzler as part of a plea bargain under which she will serve no more than six months in County Jail. Another charge of pimping and one count of cultivating marijuana will be dismissed, Deputy Dist. Atty. Michelle Bouziane said.

Andrade, who has eight previous prostitution arrests, was arrested in August after a three-month investigation by vice officers, who concluded that her businesses--Regency International Escorts, Scandia’s and Misfits--were fronts for prostitution, according to court records. Advertisements in telephone directory yellow pages touted Regency as “the Ultimate in Body Massage.”

Bouziane told Metzler in court that the plea bargain was struck because “we are having a problem getting our witnesses to testify in this matter.”

Andrade, who is free on $2,000 bail, is to appear for sentencing Dec. 3 in San Fernando Superior Court.
