In the second such drawing in a week, 10 winners of $100 California Lottery tickets were chosen Friday for a spin at a roulette-type wheel that could win them up to $2 million.
The drawing, the second since Tuesday, signified how fast Californians are buying the $1 “scratch-off” instant winner tickets, which went on sale Oct. 3. A new drawing is held each time 6,250 people become $100 winners.
The candidates for the second wheel spin, scheduled for Nov. 4, were drawn from a giant drum by Roy Grimes, a member of the Sacramento County Board of Education, at the lottery’s regional office in Whittier.
Those chosen were Rosemarie Forsyth of Oxnard; Richard Miranda, Baldwin Park; Naomi Garrison, Chino; Jose Caballero, San Jose; Jane Smith, Pacoima; Robin Osar, San Jose; Harry Ney, Modesto; Rosabelle Gold, San Francisco; Don Sharp, Oakdale, and Joe McAlpin, Antioch.
Twenty people have already been chosen to participate in the first wheel spin on Monday, called the “Big Spin,” with prizes of $10,000, $50,000, $100,000 and $2 million to be awarded.
Officials now say at least 150 million tickets have been sold since the lottery began.
