Mayor Tom Bradley has announced a citywide schedule of activities Thursday designed as an alternative to Halloween trick or treating.

“Every year, we hear more and more real horror stories that threaten to mar this wonderful celebration,” Bradley said. “It is no wonder that parents think twice about letting their children participate in the traditional trick or treat.”

Kids’ Day will consist of supervised parties at 10 locations throughout Los Angeles. The event is being paid for by local businesses and organizations including Warner Bros. Records, Pepsi Cola, Burger King, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the mayor’s corporate Challenge for Youth Inc.
