Four Bolsa Grande High School students stepped into the national limelight Friday when they were given a reward and plaque of commendation on a nationally televised talk show for helping catch a bank robbery suspect in Westminster on Oct. 21.

The teens, Ron Sickel, 16, and Jason Crane, 15, both of Garden Grove, and Paul Chavez, 17, and Geoffrey Scott, 15, both of Westminster, were awarded a $100 bond from Security Pacific National Bank and a letter of commendation on the syndicated program “America.”

The robbery occurred about 1:30 p.m. at Security Pacific’s Brookhurst Street branch, police said. The boys joined a group of people who chased the suspect, Ralph Leuvanos Acosta, 51, to Dawson Street. The four eventually grabbed the man and held him until police arrived. Acosta was charged with robbery and was being held in the Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail.
