Billy Martin, former manager of the New York Yankees, could end up managing a Japanese baseball team, his agent said. But several major league teams also have inquired about Martin, and he is considering an offer from New York owner George Steinbrenner to become a “lifetime Yankee,” Eddie Sapir said.
Since Martin was fired Sunday, Sapir said he had received letters from “some people who do a lot of business with the Japanese in the areas of sports and entertainment.
“Those people, while in Japan, were asked to discuss with me whether Billy would have any interest at all in exploring managing in Japan,” Sapir said.
