Motel Developer Offers Land to Conservancy

The developer of a controversial motel project at the foot of Agoura Hills’ landmark Ladyface Mountain has dedicated a parcel of his land to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy as permanent open space.

Piedmont Development, which is building a Holiday Inn on 34 acres of a 154-acre site south of the Ventura Freeway at Reyes Adobe Road, turned over a 120-acre parcel to conservancy officials on Friday.

Agoura Hills Mayor John Hood said the gift will help “protect and preserve Ladyface,” a 1,000-foot peak whose top resembles a reclining woman’s head and shoulders.
