Residents of Davis have been advised to boil or chemically purify their drinking water, after discovery of an unidentified bacteria in the town’s water supply. Dr. Thomas To, director of environmental health services for Yolo County, said experts ruled out sewage as a source. “It’s not coming from human or animal discharge. . . ,” he said. “We don’t know whether it’s a big problem or not, but we hope not.” He said there had been no reports of illness arising from the contamination.
