A judge in Camden, N.J., has ordered a new trial in the case of a prominent lawyer whose children sued the National Football League after their father died of injuries suffered in a mugging at the 1983 Super Bowl in Pasadena.

Superior Court Judge Theodore Z. Davis said the case would be retried, but set no date.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the children of Daniel B. Toll, an attorney who died 16 months after the attack from complications that developed after surgery. Attorney Nathan Friedman argued in the case that there were not enough guards or police at the Rose Bowl.
