Dr. Edison O. Jackson will be inaugurated at 10 a.m. today as the eighth president and superintendent of Compton Community College. The swearing-in ceremony will be conducted by Dr. Joshua Smith, chancellor of the California Community Colleges system.
Jackson, a 49-year-old former executive vice president of Essex County College in New Jersey, actually assumed the Compton post on July 1. He had asked that his inauguration be delayed until fall so more students could attend.
The cap and gown ceremony is open to the public and will take place inside the campus gymnasium at 1111 E. Artesia Blvd., Compton.
