Share

Ron Sutter scored the decisive goal early in the second period Thursday night at Philadelphia and assisted on another goal three minutes later to lead the Flyers to a 6-2 victory over the Chicago Black Hawks.

It was the ninth win in a row for the Flyers, who are 11-2-0, the best record in the National Hockey League.

The Flyers aren’t doing anything spectacular. They are playing a close-checking defensive game and getting fine goaltending from both Pelle Lindbergh and Bob Froese.

It was Lindbergh’s turn in this one, and he had to face only 20 shots. He gave up a goal in the first minute and then no more until after the Flyers had scored six times.

Defenseman Mark Howe and center Tim Kerr each scored two goals for the Flyers.

In 13 games, the Flyers have held their opponents to 36 goals while scoring 64 themselves.

Boston 2, Hartford 1--Rookie Dave Pasin scored 59 seconds after the opening faceoff at Boston, and the Bruins went on to score a hard-earned victory.

With goalie Doug Keans stopping 30 shots and nursing a shutout until the final 2 1/2 minutes, the Bruins improved their record to 9-3-1 and moved into a tie with Quebec for first place in the Adams Division.

Ken Linseman scored the other Boston goal midway through the second period. The Bruins are 5-0 at home.
