The new “Twilight Zone” has been pretty chauvinistic from its start, what with harried housewives playing second fiddle to men with deeply profound problems, but the “Little Boy Lost” episode of Oct. 18 was just plain cruel. To have a woman agonize over the choice between her career and having a family is ridiculous, no matter how much she has to travel. But to make her appear so selfish as to withhold life in order to fulfill her own ambitions was deeply depressing, though for the opposite reasons the producers intended. They may have tried--slightly--to be fair, but the final moral of the story was clearly meant to instill guilt in working women. Of course there is nothing mysterious or strange about the numbers of men who desert children after birth.
