Water from the municipal supply in the city of Davis is once again safe to drink, thanks to a special chlorination program initiated after bacterial contamination was found, city officials said. Last week, residents in the university community of 48,000 near Sacramento were advised to boil or chemically purify their tap water. The source of the contamination has yet to be identified.
