A partially paralyzed man who was dragged out of his car and beaten by several gang members over the weekend has died of his injuries at County-USC Medical Center, Los Angeles police said. Lt. Ken Welty said Glen Portier, 26, was not a gang member, but happened to be in the company of a friend who may have been the target of a retaliation attack because of his gang affiliation. The friend, who ran from the scene of the Sunday attack at Riverside Drive and Dorris Place to get help, escaped injury. Police were looking for several young men who ran Portier’s car off the road, pulled him out and beat him. Welty said Portier, partially paralyzed from a motorcycle accident, “was not much of an adversary.”
