One of two hikers missing since a surprise snowstorm hit Mt. San Jacinto near Palm Springs over the weekend walked into the ranger station atop the 10,786-foot peak, authorities said. Rudy Nicholas Brown, 30, of Los Angeles suffered frostbite on his hands and feet. Brown, who once worked in the area as a forest ranger, was airlifted to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, where he was reported in stable condition, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said. Still missing was John Kivlin, 55, of Playa del Rey. The men were on separate hikes Sunday when the storm hit. An intense air-and-ground search has been launched by sheriff’s deputies and 40 mountaineers. Kivlin was wearing only light clothes and tennis shoes.
