Navy Plane Crashes on Test Flight; Three Killed

DOTHAN, Ala. —
Three Navy fliers were killed Friday when their recently overhauled twin-engine transport plane crashed and burned after takeoff on a routine test flight.
Navy officials said the C-131 aircraft plummeted into a wooded area about a mile from the runway after the pilot reported problems and tried to return to Napier Field.
