Three men who were apprehended when a group of citizens came to the aid of police officers were in the Orange County Jail on Saturday, charged with receiving stolen property, burglary and grand theft.

Police Sgt. Joe Johnson said two officers spotted three men near Chapman Avenue and Harbor Boulevard about 4 p.m. in a car that had been reported stolen.

The vehicle, a 1964 Chevrolet, was reported missing several days ago in Buena Park and was seen near the scene of burglaries in Cypress and Brea earlier Saturday, the officer said.

When the police pulled the car over, the three occupants jumped out of the car and fled. The two officers, Glen Gorman and Andy Jauch, captured two of the men, while a group of people pursued the third.

Norman Walker of Orange, who Johnson said had been visiting his parents at their nearby condominium, chased the third man for about a quarter of a mile, caught him and held him until the police arrived.

The three men, all charged with receiving stolen property, burglary and grand theft, are Michael Munoz, 18, and Marcos Castillo, 19, both of Anaheim, and Gustavo Garcia Gomez, 24, of Santa Ana. Bail has not yet been set, Johnson said.
