Kevin Floyd, who played in 22 games at Georgetown last season, is transferring to UC Irvine and will be eligible to play basketball for the Anteaters four games into the 1986-87 season, it was announced Monday.
Floyd, a 6-foot 5-inch guard from Westchester High School in Los Angeles, will enroll at Irvine in the winter quarter, which begins in January. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with next season.
Floyd averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and was an All-City selection during his senior season at Westchester. He led the Comets to the 1984 City championship game, where they lost to John Williams and Crenshaw, 112-59.
Irvine also announced the signing of Camarillo High School senior Mitch Parrott to a basketball letter of intent Monday. Parrott averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game for Camarillo last season and was a first-team, All-Maramonte League pick. A 6-4 1/2 forward for the Scorpions, Parrott will probably be moved to guard when he begins at Irvine.
