PACIFIC SYMPHONY FORMS YOUTH MUSICAL PROGRAM

The Pacific Symphony has announced the formation of a youth music program for musicians between the ages of 16 and 22 from throughout Orange County. The program will be directed by Edmundo Diaz del Campo, assistant conductor of the orchestra.

Auditions are scheduled to be held in December and January.

Musicians selected will participate in rehearsals conducted by symphony coaches, master classes in solo and ensemble performance, audition preparation, chamber music performances and the opportunity to perform as guest members of the Pacific Symphony.

The students also will be eligible to participate in the formation of four chamber ensembles, projected as part of the program: a string quartet, wind quintet, brass quintet and a New Music group.

Scholarships will be awarded by the Pacific Symphony Assn. to all participants to cover costs of coaching, instruction and music purchase. Participants will pay no fees.
