The owner of a Venice electronics firm was sentenced in Los Angeles federal court to six months in federal prison and fined $25,000 after pleading guilty to conspiring to export military parts to Iran. Steven J. Sanett, 33, of Hidden Hills, also was placed on five years’ probation by U.S. District Judge Alicemarie H. Stotler. Assistant U.S. Atty. Jeffrey Modisett said Sanett bought a shipment of electronic tubes for the Hawk missile system from Hughes Aircraft Corp. for $60,750 and then tried to ship them to Iran in violation of the federal Arms Export Control Act. The shipment was intercepted in Montreal by Canadian authorities, Modisett said.
