Two Bodies Found Near Abandoned Car

The bodies of an unidentified man and woman were found in a snowy ravine in the Angeles National Forest late Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The discovery was made not far from an abandoned car owned by the 23-year-old daughter of a newspaper executive and her boyfriend, who were reported missing to Los Angeles police Tuesday.

Christine M. Spezzano and Kenneth Jamir, 28, had told friends Sunday they planned to drive to the mountains to see the snow.

Spezzano is the daughter of Vincent Spezzano, of Rochester, N.Y., president of the Northeast region of Gannett Newspapers.

Car Had Flat Tire

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s helicopter searching for the couple Wednesday morning found Spezzano’s brown, 1984 Pontiac Firebird in a turnoff on Angeles Crest Highway near California 39. The car was locked and had a flat tire, deputies said.

Local search and rescue teams began scouring the area and found the two bodies in a ravine at the bottom of an ice chute. There were no signs of foul play, Sheriff’s Sgt. Joseph Reid said.

Spezzano did not show up for work early Monday at USA Today in Glendale, where she is a district sales manager. Jamir, an employee of Roto Rooter, also was due to work Monday.
