Birth Control Aid in Schools

Share

Congratulations to the Los Angeles school board for its decision to provide a student health care clinic on a high school campus. I have worked on a high school campus for almost four years and have seen the desperate need for proper birth control information, as well as general health care. The first step in cutting back teen pregnancies and transmittable diseases is to keep students informed about their bodies and the state of their health. It is also quite sensible to try to involve parents in the decisions that students may have to make.

After being subjected recently to the narrow-minded, irresponsible and unthinking views of certain members of Congress and the Legislature who seek to cut family planning money, it is refreshing to know that such a diverse group as the L.A. school board members can put away their differences and vote to meet reality head-on.
