Clemson football Coach Danny Ford was reprimanded and placed on one-year probation, and six players were disciplined Wednesday because of problems they caused during the game against Maryland last weekend.

Clemson officials said they and Atlantic Coast Conference representatives agreed on the punishment. Ford charged onto the field and used profanity in criticizing several calls, and the players started a fight. Clemson lost the game, 34-31.

Ford also will not be allowed on the sidelines for the 1986 Clemson-Maryland game at College Park, Md. His coaching activities will be limited to the press box.
