Center for Assault Victims Will Open
A crisis intervention service for victims of sexual assault will open in an underserved, high-crime area of Los Angeles County on Tuesday at 9 a.m. A satellite of the existing Response Center at Thalians Mental Health Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the new center will serve residents who live within the jurisdiction of the Hollywood, Wilshire, Rampart and Central Bureaus of the Los Angeles Police Department. The rate of forcible rape is very high in the area, which includes Skid Row.
The new satellite, funded by Criminal Justice Planning Sexual Assault Victims Services, is intended to reach out to the neediest segments of the population in the target area.
