General Automation Makes $2-Million Sale

General Automation Inc. said it has agreed to sell multiple-user microcomputers to the Ultimate Corp. in a transaction valued at about $2 million.

Ultimate, based in East Hanover, N.J., will use the units in its data base management systems, General Automation said. A data base management system typically is used by a commercial, manufacturing or retail operation that must keep track of a large inventory--or data base.

Ultimate’s purchases of the microcomputers began last week and will continue over an 18-month period, General Automation said.

Anaheim-based General Automation makes minicomputers and microcomputers; Ultimate designs and manufactures computer systems for data base management.
