Monterey Park : Parking Standards Changed

Share

The City Council has voted to increase the amount of parking required for new restaurants in Monterey Park, based on complaints about crowded parking lots and a survey showing that most other cities have higher parking standards.

The new ordinance, given first reading this week and scheduled for adoption on Dec. 8, sets the new parking standard for bars and restaurants at a minimum of 10 spaces, with one required for every 100 square feet of the building or for every three seats. The standard being replaced is one space for every four seats or 100 square feet of dining area.
