Councilman Ronald Bird was installed Monday in a ceremony at the Bell Gardens City Hall. Bird, who was elected Nov. 5, replaces former Councilman Frank Dana, who served on the City Council for nine years but did not seek reelection. Bird, 41, is a funeral director for the Allen-Salas Funeral Service and has lived in Bell Gardens 20 years.

Bird, one of six contenders for two seats, garnered 25.1% of the vote, the highest percentage of all candidates. Mayor Roger McComas, who received 24.8% of the vote, retained his seat on the council. McComas has been a councilman for 17 years.
