A Granada Hills sushi chef, Kimihoko Saito, 39, has been arrested on federal firearms violations by U.S. agents and district attorney’s investigators. Deputy Dist. Atty. Louis Ito said Saito, a resident of North Hollywood, is an acquaintance of Japanese importer Kazuyoshi Miura, who was arrested in Tokyo two months ago in the attempted murder of his wife, Kazumi Miura, at the New Otani Hotel in downtown Los Angeles in 1981. Mrs. Miura survived, but three months later was fatally wounded on a Los Angeles street. The body of Miura’s former lover, Chizuko Shiraishi, 34, was found in May, 1979, several weeks after she arrived in Los Angeles. Ito said investigators questioned Saito as “one of many people connected to Miura” and passed on their information to federal agents. Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner said Miura is the sole suspect in the two killings. Ito declined to comment on any possible link between the seven handguns seized from Saito and the slayings.
