West Hollywood : Hearing Set on Smoking Law

Share

The City Council has set a Dec. 5 public hearing for its proposed smoking ordinance.

The ordinance would permit smoking sections in places of employment only if they are completely enclosed or separated from non-smoking areas. It would permit them in rooms such as lounges and cafeterias as long as the section does not take up more than 50% of the available space.

Smoking sections could be set up in public areas, such as waiting rooms and lobbies, and in restaurants that seat more than 35 people, provided the sections take up no more than 50% of the space on the premises.

No-smoking sections would not be required in such places as bars, fully enclosed private offices and restaurants that seat fewer than 35 people.
