Private Schools Voucher Plan
William Bennett, a Roman Catholic, and his parochial school lobbyists, in promoting the long-discredited voucher plan, continue to overlook the vital necessity of a free society controlling the education of its citizens.
Subsidizing private education would open the door to kinds of teaching that could undermine our high moral standards, even our free-enterprise way of life.
Why could not Communist schools, Hare Krishna schools, neo-Nazi schools and many others get our money also?
What is wrong with the American tradition of letting religious people support their own institutions?
