More than $61 million in tax refunds has been seized by the State of California from people who are delinquent in child support, Gov. George Deukmejian disclosed during his weekly radio broadcast. “California was among the first states to pioneer a state tax intercept program, to withhold child support payments from delinquent parents’ tax returns,” the governor said. “So far this year, over $61 million in back child support has been collected.”
