The City Council has appointed five members to the city’s first Cultural Arts Committee, which was created to assess the cultural and artistic needs of Whittier. The committee is to present its findings to the council by mid-1986.

Those selected to serve on the committee are Joan Nay, a Whittier Union High School District trustee; Joseph Baima, owner of Reliable Printing; Sam Guyan, who has been active with the city’s youth art program, the Junior Art Guild; Joe DaRold, executive director of the Whittier Historical Society; and Patricia Hennessey, who is active in the La Mirada Civic Theater and several Whittier-area art programs.
