Downey
The Downey Unified School District board of trustees Monday voted to discontinue the district’s shuttle bus program at middle and high schools.
The service, which the district provided two years ago, was reinstated this year to take students to and from five schools, said Peter Lippman, business manager.
But the service proved to be “far too costly” because there were never enough riders to pay it, he said. The shuttle bus will be discontinued on Jan. 1.
