Westlake Village Names Klove Mayor

Westlake Village City Councilwoman Bonnie Klove, who pledged to work to get a new public library built on a site that will be convenient to the city’s residents, has been named Westlake Village’s mayor for 1986.

Council members Wednesday night also picked Councilman John McDonough to be mayor pro tem in the 5.4-square-mile city.

According to Klove, Los Angeles County has agreed to build a regional branch library in the Las Virgenes area to replace a small, leased facility in Agoura Hills. Some officials have proposed building a permanent library on land donated to the county near the Ventura Freeway’s Lost Hills Road interchange--about six miles from Westlake Village.

“Our role in this project is to work with our neighbors to the east to provide an appropriate site for this much-needed facility,” Klove said after her installation as mayor. She urged the council to work closely with library officials and leaders of Agoura Hills in selecting the library location.

Klove said other council goals for the year include landscaping the Ventura Freeway-Lindero Canyon Road interchange, developing closer communication with Westlake Village homeowner groups and creating recreational programs for the city’s youth.
