A Mexican teen-ager was convicted of murder in the stabbing death of actor David Huffman in San Diego’s Balboa Park in February. Genaro Villanueva, 17, an illegal alien, admitted on the witness stand that he was startled by Huffman and stabbed him with a screwdriver. According to testimony, the 40-year-old actor, who had been appearing in the Old Globe Theatre production “Of Mice and Men,” had seen Villanueva trying to break into a motor home and chased the youth into a canyon. The jury deliberated about 3 1/2 hours before convicting Villanueva, who was tried as an adult and faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
