Horrified at B

Share

About three months ago I found a Reader Recommendation naming Cambria House, 36 Sussez Gardens, London W2 1UL, as an excellent place to stay. The writer enthused over the lovely room and delicious breakfast she and her daughter had enjoyed.

On Oct. 11 and 12 I had the most unpleasant experience in 12 years of staying at B&Bs; in England. Unfortunately, I had made a reservation days ahead and arrived too late to find other accommodations. I refused the first room offered for 13 and was given, for 15, a musty hole with a dim light hanging from the high ceiling, a bed that sank in the middle, no TV lounge, and when I got up in the middle of the night I was horrified to find the carpet crawling with bugs and two in the bed. The breakfast egg and one slice of bacon were so covered with grease I could not eat them.

I cannot believe this place could have been recommended by anyone. It was an insult, and the price was outrageous.
